The LiceSnatcher™ is connected to a vacuum cleaner, sections of hair are sucked in to the LiceSnatcher™ and combed. The suction creates a powerful air flow that removes the lice from the comb and hair captures them in the LiceSnatcher™’s filter. (No need to manually clear the comb during the treatment, this reduces the treatment time by up to half that of other treatment systems.) (See more: Instructions for use, Treatment Plan or the Demonstration video The LiceSnatcher™ breaks the louse life-cycle. It removes adult lice and immature lice on the first treatment. Immature lice are removed before they can breed on four treatments over two weeks.

STEP 1: Brush through and comb the hair until smooth.
STEP 2: Separate into between 3 and 6 pony tails (ensure nice straight partings - they act like fire breaks!)
Tip: The hair should be clean, dry and well conditioned. If the child’s hair is too short for pony tails then separate the hair into sections using hair clips and go to the next step.
STEP 3: Remove the hair tie and vacuum comb the first section of hair using short strokes (50mm /2 inches in length approx.) with the teeth of the comb lightly rubbing the scalp. The hair should flutter freely inside the LiceSnatcher™ while combing.

Tip: Take care to ensure that all the hair is released from the teeth of the comb between strokes to prevent back-combing)
STEP 4 :Finish the section of hair by combing the full length of the hair a few times (3 or 4 is sufficient).

STEP 5: Re-tie the hair into a pony tail. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each pony tail.
Tip: Give the child a book or game to occupy them during the treatment.
STEP 6: Open the filter housing on the LiceSnatcher™, remove the filter (if you feel squeamish about the lice you can use the filter lid to enclose any captured beasties!) and inspect for lice. If you find any lice record how many of each size on the treatment plan.

Tip: Captured lice may be sucked out of the filter afterward using the vacuum cleaner to allow for cleaning and re-use of the filters.
STEP 7: Follow the treatment plan and repeat steps 1-6 every 3-4 days to remove all the immature lice as they hatch. After four treatments all the lice will be gone.
Finally: Each LiceSnatcher™ is supplied with six Lice filters and combs. This allows the whole family to be treated quickly and any lice counted without needing to stop and clear combs or filters after each person.
The Lice filters may be cleaned using soap and water and re-used many times before the filter cloth wears out. The Lice filters may also be cleaned in a dishwasher (to 65ºC) to remove any dirt that has built up on the filter.
Note: There is no risk that the lice will escape from the vacuum cleaner, the extremely dry conditions in the vacuum quickly de-hydrate them and they die. Please take care when cleaning the filter as the cloth is not as robust as the rest of the LiceSnatcher™.
If you would rather not reuse the filter then dispose of it safely and use a new filter for the each treatment. Replacement filters may be bought from this website.
